Rain, thunderstorms and heavy rain across Newfoundland and Labrador Wednesday
We can expect a mixed bag of weather today, with showers, thunderstorms and areas of heavy rain developing in several regions. The heaviest rainfall is expected across the Burin Peninsula, where totals of 20 to 30 mm are forecast around the Marystown area. Rabies Confirmed in Bat in Trinity Bay Area
The Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands has confirmed a case of rabies in a bat in the Trinity Bay area, marking only the second time the disease has been detected in a bat in the province. Officials said the previous confirmed case occurred in Cartwright in 2004. Rain expected across most of Newfoundland today
Sun and cloud are expected today on the Avalon Peninsula; rain is expected elsewhere. On the Great Northern Peninsula, rainfall amounts of 5 mm are expected. The Corner Brook and Gros Morne area will receive 25 to 35 mm. On the southwest coast, 5 mm is expected. Central Newfoundland will see 2 to 4 mm. Highs will range from 17 to 22.
