Snow, rain, and strong winds impacting eastern Canada

Quebec
A low pressure system over the Eastern American Seaboard will affect Eastern Quebec and the Maritimes from Thursday evening to Friday evening.

Snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm is expected for the Lower North Shore. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected with winds reaching up to 90 km/h and blowing snow is expected for the Gaspe Peninsula to the Forestville area.

The Outaouais, Laurentians and Lanaudière regions, and towards the Mauricie and Quebec City regions will also see snow until about midday creating dangerous driving conditions for the morning commute.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Maritimes
Snow will continue for most of the day across northern and western areas of New Brunswick. Rain is expected across mainland Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick. 

Across Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island, precipitation will start as snow and eventually transition to rain.

15 to 25 cm of snow is expected across central and northern New Brunswick by this evening.

Winds will gust up to 90 km/h across eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island this afternoon and evening. Over Inverness County - Mabou and north, gusts to 150 km/h are possible.

Newfoundland and Labrador
Snow will move onto the west coast overnight and change to rain as it spreads eastward.

Precipitation will move off the Island by Friday evening, however, snow squalls are expected along the west coast.

Corner Brook and vicinity, Deer Lake - Humber Valley, Gros Morne, Green Bay - White Bay, Buchans and the interior, and the Burgeo Highway will see 5 to 15 cm of snow.

Strong winds are also expected. Gusts between 80 and 130 km/h are possible for all coastal areas of Newfoundland. Along the west coast, areas prone to enhanced southeasterlies including the Wreckhouse are could see gusts between 140 and 150 cm of snow.

Across Labrador 15 to 30 cm of snow is expected for southeastern Labrador from Red Bay to Cartwright and interior from Churchill Valley to Eagle River. The Labrador coast from Rigolet to Nain will see 5 to 15 cm. The Labrador coast from Red Bay to Rigolet will see gusts between 80 and 100 km/h overnight tonight until Friday morning.
